Let's take action together on the "SuperCity" legislation
Kia ora NZAAHD members
While it's a word we may have had enough of "Supercity" legislation is moving along quickly, and it's really important we keep our heads above water, our voices tuned aloud, and weave together tightly to support the future of young people, youth development, and ourselves - the people and organisations working with young people in Auckland.
Are you or your organisation planning on writing a submission for the last (third) bill for the "Supercity"?
We really encourage you, your colleagues and organisation to do so... The third and last piece of legislation is currently open for submissions, which close on 12 February 2010.
This last piece of legislation could have significant impacts on the future of youth development in Auckland - especially around the selling of council assets (buildings, parks, etc), the potential loss of support in the form of staff and funding, and the little clarity on any youth participation. A lot is unclear, and your voice on our shared vision is valuable!
Write your submission with our youth-related template
NZAAHD Auckland Branch and YouthworX have created a submission template which relates the Third Bill to the philosophies of the Youth Development Strategy Aotearoa (YDSA), our need for continued support, and the addition of Youth Participation in the legislation - compiled by Youth Law in consultation with the collective Youth Council's from around Auckland. We welcome and encourage you to use this, make your edits adding in your organisations opinions, e-mail your submission, and contribute to the noise that youth and the youth sector are creating!
3. Tell all your friends and colleagues of your speaking time
4. Tell YouthworX about your speaking time - we will make all youth related submission times known, so we can rock up and support one another!
5. Gather your entourage
6. Make an awesomely strong verbal submission
7. It's OK to make the written submission less detailed, and use the verbal submission to really get your points across.
8. Tools are available to help you, please see below for more info.
