NZAAHD is proud to announce a partnership with the Alcohol Advisory Council of NZ (ALAC) for Youth Week 2010. This year Youth Week will have a strong focus on reducing the harm of alcohol for young people, their families and communities. This will mean small grants will be available to young people and youth organisations to organise events and activities focused on reducing alcohol harm. ALAC believes that young people are a positive force for improving the health and wellbeing of their communities, and so they hope the grants will allow young people to come up with creative activities to challenge the negative impacts of alcohol. Youth Week theme and resources: The theme for Youth Week 2010 is Rangatahi Ora: Whānau Ora, connecting whānau and families with young people. Youth Week encourages whānau to connect with their young people and strengthen these relationships. Street campaign: Get involved: Youth Week encourages you to get a group of enthusiastic people together to get out on the streets on Friday 28 May 2010 and help to promote Youth Week by giving out stickers to promote the theme and spread the word about Youth Week. Donation buckets will be provided incase our communities want to donate to Youth Week. It's a great opportunity for your workplace, youth group, family or any other group to help support Youth Week and get out there! Youth Week competitions and celebrities: For the first time Youth Week is about to launch celebrities who support Youth Week, and want to attend events! Simply register your event on the Youth Week website (www.youthweek.co.nz or www.rangatahi.co.nz) by 1st April 2010, and a celebrity could choose your event to attend! All registered events have a chance. You could also win $100 for your event by simply registering it on the website by May 1st 2010. Winners will be notified by a phone call.
