Youth leadership: tackling alcohol and drug problems in their communities


NZAAHD, ComsVoices and the NZ Drug Foundaiton are pleased to invite you to a Parliamentary breakfast, hosted by Jacinda Arden MP, with Maureen Sedonaen, an internationally recognised leader in youth leadership and development.

The breakfast will begin at 7.30am on Thursday 18 June 2009, in the Banquet Hall, Parliament Buildings.

Maureen will speak for about 20 minutes and questions from the floor will follow. There will be time afterwards for mixing and mingling.

Maureen is visiting New Zealand as a guest of the Drug Foundation and New Zealand Aotearoa Adolescent Health and Development to provide training to alcohol and drug, and youth health and development workers.

Maureen is the founder of the Youth Leadership Institute ­ a San Francisco-based organisation that helps build communities where young people and their adult allies come together to create positive social change, all while promoting best practices in the field of youth development.

Maureen Sedonaen is an internationally recognised authority in the fields of alcohol and drug harm prevention, youth leadership and youth development. An accomplished keynote speaker, trainer, and consultant, she has received the State of California Governor¹s Award of Recognition for developing youth programs that truly empower young people and a US. Congressional Award of innovation for her youth leadership and development work.
