Dear NZAAHD member,
It is with regret that I must inform you that NZAAHD's major funding contract with the Ministry of Health is not being renewed. This cut is a temporary and partial set-back for NZAAHD and our sector. NZAAHD still has 2/3 of its funding, and a strong base of supporters, staff and members. This funding cut is amongst many cuts being made to MoH's public health contracts (long-term prevention & health promotion), and is in no way a reflection of our performance. The cut comes not as a complete surprise, but with virtually no notice. We want your support.
We ask you to:

3. Consider any in-kind donations your organisation may be able to share with NZAAHD: particularly staff time and office space. In the meantime, we are working to establish replacement funding. The amount is not huge - NZAAHD has never had a great deal of funding! But it is significant for our bottom line. You might also notice some changes in the work we are doing. But your elected representatives - NZAAHD's National Council - has yet to decide how this will impact on our work programme. We are doing this work promptly, but also in consultation with staff. We welcome your suggestions. Please also be aware that this is a sensitive time for staff, as the funding cut will mean a reduction in staffing levels. Thank you for your support in advance. I am doing my best on your behalf to see NZAAHD through this change. NZAAHD is your organisation, and was started and is directed by people like you - people who work with young people.
We know we are not alone in dealing with funding changes at the moment and are humbled and inspired by the positive and proactive approach taken by the sector in response to such times. "Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini"
"My strength is not that of the individual but that of the multitudes"
Kia kaha
