Rise E Tu
Â

The Ministry of Health has been working to encourage young people to eat well, exercise and be healthy. They want to make sure their ideas are good ones, so they're looking for some help from young people.
NZAAHD coordinates Rise E Tu, a group of young people that give feedback and ideas to the Ministry of Health on issues relating to young people's health, nutrition and physical activity!
Â
Rise E Tu is an amazing, dynamic, and diverse group of young people. The members are aged 12-20 years. They are from a wide range of regions, backgrounds and lifestyles. One of the Rise E Tu members said it is: "Awesome! I love the activities... I learnt a lot and made a lot of m8's. I recommend going back."
Rise E Tu has been involved with a lot of great stuff. They helped with the food guidelines about healthy food options that were sent to all schools. They met the Minister of Health in 2007, and even helped to train the Fuel for School students to help them with their health and nutrition projects. The Rise E Tu members have also attended conferences, and were involved in giving their ideas about a website for young people organizing events relating to health, nutrition and physical activity.
If I join the group, what will I be doing?
- You need to be available to attend 4 meetings over the next year and a half. Our next meeting is Saturday - Monday June 6-8 in Wellington. We pay for your flights and travel and everything you need while you're here.
- Each meeting lasts for 2 days - one weekend-day and one school day (apart from our next meeting which is 3 days (2 weekend-days and one school day). We can write you letters for your school or your work.
- You'll get to hear from the Ministry of Health about their work on healthy eating and action then tell them what you think.
- You'll also get to make up your own ideas and if the group agrees, put them into action.
- You will be involved with a new website for people who organise events relating to health, nutrition & physical activity.
Why should I bother?
